I have a bad habit of slurping hot beverages. I'm going to fight through it, though.

Crap, I just remembered that I forgot a dentist appointment today (it's now 5 hours after the fact).

Work is dragging hard lately. I really hope I can still go on my vacation in a month and a half, because I'm going to need it. It's not as if work is horrible or anything, it's just that I think I need a short break, something to refuel my creative fire.

The first frost this morning. It was slight, but it was there. I stuck out my finger as I biked by a parked car and let my finger slide across the glass of the window, picking up a cold spot of water in the process.

As usual when I'm at the doctor, I sit and ramble and tell every single thing I've felt or experienced in the past week. I feel like I'm pretty highly in tune with my own body and can describe and locate small or large pain pretty well (when it rarely comes). This last week, though, I've been plagued with chest pains and due to family history had them checked out. The probable diagnosis isn't nearly as bad as it could be, but I'm still going to have to watch what I eat (as if I didn't already) and see what happens.

Who would have thought that a flavor of ice cream with the word "gravy" in the title could actually taste really good?

Part of the reason I burnt out on the bar scene (pun possibly intended) is that smoke seems to permiate my every pore when I go out. Went out with some friends tonight after a movie and the same held true. Had to scrub my skin and hair before bed so that no traces remained.

People still don't believe me when I say that the Babe (yes, the ones with the talking pig) movies are really good. I watched the second one again tonight (after buying them both on DVD) and I can honestly say that I still think that they're both amazing films. Much deeper than surface level.

I've never before in my life seen a speech like that. I don't mean that it completely bowled me over, or anything like that, but as a person who's younger than 30, I've never such declarations made. I think there are some things that are inevitable now, and as we have been, we're just going to have to keep watching and listening and wondering.

From now on, I will remember not to feed my body bad food. It's certainly easier for me to do it than for my body to remind me later.

Just about to rollerblade for the first time in a week (couldn't for many days because the wisdom teeth came out and it could have caused a bloody mouth), but as soon as I was heading out the door, it started raining hard. Wet pavement and polyeurethane wheels don't mix very well, so I went back inside. Maybe tomorrow.

There are three restaurants in the area within one hour of where I live that have grown head and shoulders above anywhere else that I've eaten here. Two of them serve Indian food and one of them serves Thai. Today, I ate at one of the Indian food restaurants for a lunch buffet and stuffed my stomach like I haven't in a long time.

While laying in bed, I could hear a plane flying over. For some reason, it completely pricked up my ears and woke me up and I listened and listened to it, trying to keep in mind where it was flying above me in the sky. It was an irrational fear, but one that was lingering in the back of my mind.

As I was unlocking my bike tonight at the grocery store, another fellow rode by on his bike and said, "there are a lot of angry people out there tonight, you be careful man." I told him to do the same as I heard people arguing (about the extent of our country's retaliation) in the parking lot behind me. Unite people, unite.

Got two wisdom teeth pulled today. Like the root canal a couple weeks earlier, it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. It's a little worse now that the anasthetic is wearing off, but not horrible. I brought the teeth home.

For the second time in a week, a strange bug flew into my living room while watching a movie. I'm not talking gnats or mosquitoes or flies or anything like that. Last week, it was a strange, green walking stick bug, and this week it was a brown, flying walking stick bug that looked like it had the head of a small alien. Trapped both of them under glasses, looked at them for awhile, then freed them outside.

As I think most people do on Labor Day, I did the exact opposite of labor. Slept in, ate some tasty food, and basically just slacked off all day. And once in awhile, that's ok, darnit.

It had been a long time since I camped (almost exactly a year ago actually), but it was nice to get out again, even if it did leave me a bit sore in the morning (bony frame doesn't mix well with hard ground, but I'll remember some sort of padding next time). Best saying of the day; "This place looks like a white trash refugee camp."

The best kind of a trip is one in which detours aren't cursed and there's enough time alotted that a random stop in some obscure place is more fun than annoyance.
