They would have never put a snooze button on alarm clocks if it weren't meant to be used.
May 30, 2000
The first time I wear shorts to work and instead of being hot like normal, the building temperature had somehow dropped 20 degrees. At least I had a cardigan handy.
May 29, 2000
We sat out in the sun and talked about everything from politics to relationships (which sometimes overlap) and surprisingly personal admissions sometimes came out, but it was natural and friendly and fun. Relaxing and conversing on a day off is what it's all about.
May 28, 2000
There's a tiny spot on my upper arm and the top of my left thigh where I got slightly burnt in the sun today. Did I mention I biked 52 miles while this happened?
May 27, 2000
It looked like meat and smelled like meat and even tasted like meat. It was barbeque tofu, though, and it was damn tasty.
May 26, 2000
The last time we had over an inch of precipitation here was November. When it rained off and on nearly all of today, I could swear that everything smelled different when I came outside from work.

"What do you have so many CDs for?"
"Well, I have a lot of different moods, and I like music to go with each different one."
"You mean to tell me that you have 800 different moods?"
"No, actually I probably have about 2000 different moods, that's why I'm always getting new things."
May 24, 2000
I had a couple sips of beer tonight and re-affirmed my feeling that I absolutely hate the stuff.
May 23, 2000
It was entirely too hot at work today. The air circulation in the building was working poorly and I ended up putting a fan on my desk, right next to my monitor so it would blow in my face all afternoon.
May 22, 2000
Trying to put my tire back on my bike tonight after fixing a flat, I slipped and raked the tire tool across one of my fingers. It didn't break the skin, but I have a large red mark and some pain where it hit me.
May 21, 2000
Delightful smells and tastes of a get-together at the house of a friend. Every kind of pasta imaginable, salad, and warm brownies.
May 20, 2000
The sun was a flourescent pink glowing orb that shone through after the small storm had passed tonight. My friend and I were stuck in a traffic jam and watched as it creeped down behind the horizon line.
May 19, 2000
I'm not a big computer game player, but I've found that a couple rounds of one on Friday afternoon before I leave work is a great way to wind down before I bike home.
May 18, 2000
Once in awhile I write something fairly eloquent and surprise even myself.
May 17, 2000
I'm not much for the weather tempting me with thunder and ominous clouds if it's not going to do anything. I don't just want a threat of storms, I want crashing thunder, flashing lightning, and rain.
May 16, 2000
Riding a bike at 38 miles per hour an interesting feeling. It's not really any different than going that fast on a motorcycle, except you have the added bonus of knowing that it's your energy (rather than gasoline) fueling it.
May 15, 2000
Coughing for nearly 2 hours straight in the middle of the night really puts a damper on your next day.
May 14, 2000
I was a photo major in college, but hadn't taken hardly anything since I graduated (after becoming absorbed by this web thing). Today, I got my first full roll of pictures back in a couple years and I'm excited about the medium again.
May 13, 2000
I rode by on my bike and held out my camera at arms length. The person waving their hand in the fuzzy green frog outfit had no idea that I'd just taken their picture.
May 12, 2000
The light in my hallway burnt out sometime today. When I came home from the movie tonight, I had to fumble around a little before discerning my apartment key from the others and opening my apartment door in complete darkness.
May 11, 2000
The first real thunder of the year to help sooth me to sleep. Keep rumbling.
May 10, 2000
On the way to the store in the dark tonight, a shiny glint of metal caught my eye and I bent over to examine closer. It was a penny, and I put it in my back pocket and continued walking. When the total was rang up on the cash register for my items, I had exact change due to that very same penny I'd picked up only moments earlier. A quirky end to sort of an otherwise blase' day.
May 9, 2000
I drank 6 big glasses of hot tea tonight to help combat a sore throat. Blackberry, lemon soother, and plain old green felt nice.
May 8, 2000
I had a pre-interview (whatever that means) for a job today. All I know is that some of the questions asked seemed somewhat strange at the time and they were delivered fairly rapid-fire, keeping me kind of nervous and on edge no matter what I did to calm myself. Looking back, I felt like I answered them pretty well for the most part, but I also feel like there were places I stumbled.
May 7, 2000
It's entirely too hot and humid when you sweat without doing anything.
May 6, 2000
Every time I've gone to a wedding of someone my age or younger than me, it makes me feel somewhat strange. It's not that I feel left out or that I think it's wrong by any means, but instead because I'm nowhere near that point myself.
May 5, 2000
Two friends and I talked about girls and relationships over chocolate shakes. We thought we may have come to some solutions about how both of them work, but soon realized that we were deluding ourselves.
May 4, 2000
I have a theory that the two things that keep most people away from me on the dancefloor are my sweat blast radius and the fact that I may indeed resemble a big, twitchy freak when I dance.
May 3, 2000
You know you've been working on a computer too much when you hear sounds in nature that remind you of alert sounds or other noises that your computer makes.
May 2, 2000
With new wheels on my rollerblades, I was zooming like a madman on the trails tonight. Going down the backside of the usual reservoir, it was even more exhilirating knowing I was moving much faster than normal.
May 1, 2000
I heard someone say "Happy May Day" at work today and I had to look at the calendar just to make sure. When I was a kid, I remember taking little baskets of candy around and putting them on girls doorsteps. The tradition was then to run, because if the girl caught you, she would kiss you. I was always a fairly speedy kid, though, and I never got caught.
I think I'd know to run slower now.
